I am a bi-lateral above knee amputee as a result of a drunk driver hitting me while I was on a family fishing trip. It was about 18 years ago, June 1990, down in Florida, just east of Palm Bay. I moved up North immediately after. I have been separated/divorced since Feb 1998. I basically live alone, although I rent out spare rooms in my house and/or basement. I am still fairly active, working around the house and in the carport. So I never used my peg-legs. I am much faster and better able to do what I do without them. Born and reared in Miami, Fl. Then did almost 10 years in the Navy, Nuclear Submarines, then a few years later, I became short. After moving up to NC, I had opened an Oriental Grocery Store, but had to close for personal reasons. Then later I opened a bicycle shop. Pretty cool, can't ride them but I could sell the heck out of them. Thats when my wife left me and two teenage kids. Had to close the shop to take care of them. They are all grown and gone now, except my oldest needed a place to rent, so him, his wife and kids rent out my spare rooms for now.
Hobbies: Working in, on and around the house and yard. I have a small vegetable garden and flower planters I like to play with, (I like to get muddy and dirty). For some dumb reason, I like to build and sell outdoor furniture, (picnic tables, etc.). I know it should be bird houses, but the tables are more fun.I am also very handy working on a car.
Interests: Electronics / Computer and Internet in the colder months. Camping, boating, fishing, skiing, (both snow and water), in the warmer months. [well, the snow part is in the winter].I have a large back deck with many cookers and BBQ's and love when family and friends visit. I do drink beer so I am not a tea toter. Usually only while working or mowing the lawn or in the evenings with visiters.
Music:Varied artist, but gravatate towards jazz and oldies/classic rock. I've raised three teenagers, so I have heard it all!
TV Show:Discovery, History, TLC, Military & News channels. Stay away from reality shows, but will watch now-and-then.
Movies:I am kinda Sci-Fi nut. Even the old B movies. But if I had to choose, I guess "The West Side Story" or "The Wizard of Oz".
Books:Mostly just a magazine reader. I should pick up a book more often 'cuz I kant spell dem thare words'.
People:Family and friends. And hopefully you too soon!
