In Feb. 1990 a tumor was scraped out from among the spinal cord tissue between T6 and T10. Thus I am a paraplegic, however due to the partial sensory nerve activity remaining I am a paraparetic. Bowel and bladder are abnormal and I have been very susceptible to UTI's. I will be married 30 years in Dec. 2007! That's right, as uncommon as it may seem, my marriage survived my paralysis. I have lots of support from family and a few good friends. I keep busy with genealogical research, piano/organ/synth playing, music composition and small furniture refinishing. I keep healthy with vitamin supplements, as much exercise as my shoulders and neck will tolerate, a few prescriptions to keep my condition under control and a good bit of quality rest. I live life as fully as I can. Most of all, I am cripppled -- check it out -- it means I can't walk. That's me, not much more, certainly no less.
