About Me

I am married and the mother of 5 grown children - 4 daughters and 1 son. My 26 year old son Michael was in a horrific car accident on June 10, 2007. He was driving 3 friends home from a concert, and pulled into a rest stop because and told them he was too tired to drive. His friend took the key and continued the drive home... only a few exits from home, his friend fell asleep at the wheel, and drove the car off the road in to a grove of oak trees. Tragically, a 21 yr old girl in the back seat lost her life in the crash. Michael sustained major head injuries and many broken bones. He was in a coma for 3 weeks, and has been in one or another medical facility since the crash. Michael is 'permanently and completely disabled', according to his physician - although he has made great strides towards recovery, he is still unable to stand or walk, and has no short term memory. It's a daily struggle, and has totally changed our entire family. But Michael inspires us all.
