Disability law is complex and wide-ranging (great if you’re a disability lawyer, frustrating otherwise!). The following organizations, however, which may deal with disability employment law, disability discrimination law, disability rights, short term disability law, and state disability laws, among others, can help you get started.

ADAPT is a national grassroots organizations that works tirelessly to protect and push for the civil and human rights of all people with disabilities.
ADAWatch is a project of the National Coalition of Disability Rights (NCDR).
American Association of People with Disabilities
An organization open to all disabilities. Programs include internships, awareness, resources and more.
American Bar Association Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law
The Commission's mission is "to promote the ABA's commitment to justice and the rule of law for persons with mental, physical, and sensory disabilities and to promote their full and equal participation in the legal profession."
Client Assistance Programs Resource Center
The Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System and Client Assistance Program (CAP) comprise the nationwide network of congressionally mandated, legally based disability rights agencies. CAP agencies (many of which are housed within P&A offices) provide information and assistance to individuals seeking or receiving vocational rehabilitation services under the Rehabilitation Act, including assistance in pursuing administrative, legal and other appropriate remedies.
Committee on Disability Power & Pride
The Committee on Disability Power & Pride was formed after the first Power and Pride Inaugural Ball in January 2009. The Committee is dedicated to planning and publicizing events and projects that display and increase the political power and pride of people with disabilities.
Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund
DREDF is a national civil rights law and policy center for people with disabilities.
JFA advocates for improvements in the criminal justice system.
National Disability Rights Network
NDRN is dedicated to protecting and advocating for the rights of people with disabilites.
Protection and Advocacy Projects Resource Center
All P&As maintain a presence in facilities that care for people with disabilities, where they monitor, investigate and attempt to remedy adverse conditions. These agencies also devote considerable resources to ensuring full access to inclusive educational programs, financial entitlements, healthcare, accessible housing and productive employment opportunities.
