With more than 6,000 members, the American Academy of Pain Management is the largest interdisciplinary pain organization in the U.S. Its goal is to connect healthcare professionals who specialize in pain to patients who are experiencing pain in order to create quality services and care.
Who Is the Target Audience for AAPM Programs?
Pain practitioners, patients with pain, and businesses and corporations are the primary focus of AAPM’s programs, including physician searches, clinical trial information, educational opportunities, membership benefits, publications and more.
Resources Available through AAPM
Individuals suffering from pain may find professionals who are members of AAPM and connect with them for treatment. Patients may also search for an accredited pain program in their area, as well as search for information regarding their condition or browse the latest clinical trials or news related to pain management.
Programs – AAPM provides assistance for pain management issues through six different programs: Pain Program Accreditation, Accredited Pain Programs, Outcomes Measurement, Health Care Provider, Annual Clinical Meeting, and Continuing Education. The AAPM educational opportunities are primarily for pain practitioners, including acupuncturists, chiropractors, family physicians, nurses, pharmacists and psychologists.
Publications – The Pain Practitioner, a quarterly magazine filled with clinical articles, Academy news, a calendar of pain meetings and more, is targeted toward professionals but may also be of interest to patients. AAPM also produces a monthly e-newsletter, a pain management book, and recordings of clinical meeting sessions.
