Disaboom:  We are particularly interested in Ahhha, because Disaboom was conceived by an entrepreneur. Confined to a wheel chair following a tragic ski accident, Dr. House realized the need of a central location for disability resources and information, and Disaboom was founded to fulfill that need.

Disaboom. Tell our readers more about AHHHA.

Matt Crowe:  “Ahhha is new. It’s a social ideation. It’s a website community where anyone, anywhere can submit any kind of idea. We’re not bias as far as what that idea is, or who the person is. It’s a portal or tool to start the ideation process. Everyone has that moment where they think, ‘I just had an idea, what if?’  Or ‘wouldn’t it be better if we did it like this.’ People who have those ideas don’t know what to do with them, or how to do it, or where to go. Now they can submit that idea on AHHHA.com We have a platform that systematizes and essentially automates the process, and the execution as well, so the idea comes to fruition instead of hanging out there in never-never land. Inventions are 1% inspiration and 90% perspiration, so one person submits the idea and chooses who in the community he wants to work with. The team he chooses will collaborate (do the heavy lifting) and come up with the way to get it done.”

Disaboom:  How did you come up with the idea?

Matt Crowe:  “It was my ‘ahhha’ moment.  I’ve been an entrepreneur for a long time, and like a lot of entrepreneurs I saw a big opportunity.  I saw a huge gap.  I saw a lot of good ideas not coming to life, and bad ones getting all sorts of money and financing because the creator had a relationship with a big investor.  It is really hard for the little guy in today’s economic environment to bring a good idea to life. So I thought, ‘what if I put the technology and a website out there so that anyone and everyone who had a good idea could use it.’ Maybe they don’t want to tell people about it yet; maybe they store it for a few years, now they can put it in AHHHA for safekeeping. Maybe they just want to think about it a little more. There are a ton of people who have great ideas but don’t do anything about it.  That’s where the idea came from, I thought, ‘I have ideas all the time, and so does everyone else, but most people don’t do anything about it.’  So I thought, ‘what if we had a place, where we could do something, so that when these great ideas come to mind, people can do something about it.’”

Disaboom:  Where do you see AHHHA five years down the road?

Matt Crowe:  “I see AHHHA being the place where a community of millions of people can collaborate and vote on ideas and leverage their ingenuity as well as really impacting their lives. They are making extra money.  They are realizing their dream and are able to quit the job that they hate.  I see the guy in Nebraska who is now living on his terms because he brought his dream to life through AHHHA.  My goal for the AHHHA community is bringing as much value to users at all times.  That will translate into an exciting brand that is contributing to the lives of people who participate in a powerful way.”

Disaboom:  Who are the people who will have the greatest success in the AHHHA community?

Matt Crowe:  “It’s rational to think that the people who will gain the most value from AHHHA are the people who will use it the most; the people who submit lots of ideas and are contributing on a more regular basis.  However, there are always the needles in the haystacks, the diamonds in the rough.  One person submits one thing, and it’s the next Snuggie or the next whatever.  I think it could go both ways. But really, like anything else, the more effort you put into it the more value you’re going to get out of it.”

Disaboom:  How will you protect these ideas?

Matt Crowe:  “When a user submits an idea we create a unique identifier, record it with a time stamp around the idea and the user. We are also coming up with a customized bar code that protects the idea. AHHHA will work at all times to make sure that the user and the idea are protected.”

Disaboom:  I know you just started at the end of March, do you have any idea how long it will take for this idea to catch on?

Matt Crowe:  “Well, you never really know what it’s going to take, but I have a feeling it will end up being one media spot, one key relationship or something that pushes it over the edge.  In the near future, I suspect. In fact, I can really feel that we are close right now. I’m on a media tour right now filming shows, doing mainstream TV.  I’m going on CNN and the Today Show and we have some fun guerilla marketing coming up soon. Because it’s such a fun product, we’ll be doing some really fun, cool things across the country to let people know that AHHHA is here, and there’s a place they can come with their great ideas.”

Disaboom: What is your business background?

Matt Crowe:  “I’ve been an entrepreneur for 12 years. I’ve had massive successes and massive failures and everything in between.  In the process, I’ve learned there are better ways to go about it.”
