Terry Ward Consulting LLC

Terry Ward Consulting services consist of design and advocacy on behalf of persons with disabilities. A person with a disabling condition many times will need a home designed and built specifically with their special needs in mind; accessible entries and exits, bathroom and kitchen and custom designed furniture to accommodate the individuals’ wants and needs. Services include but are not limited to, long term planning for assistive technology needs; for example the type of appliances such as manual and power wheelchairs, batteries, maintenance, cushions and customized seating and positioning. Personal transportation or access to public transportation options is another important need when considering the long term needs and care of a person with a disability. Most seniors what to living in their own homes for as long as is possible and the nursing home is only a last resort. Unfortunately, most homes seniors are living in were designed 30 years ago with children, family and work as the priorities. Now the second floor and basement are not as necessary as they were previously. The bathtub is seldom used for a bathtub but for showering instead. Every level change in the house is a problem rather than a unique design. Terry Ward Consulting works with consumers to establish and realize the remodeling potential of their homes to create safe and accessible living environments and assistive technology. He works with builders to remodel a consumer’s home with the individual’s priorities and needs foremost in mind and architects to design a home from the ground up to suite the needs, wants and desires of the consumer. Dr. Ward consults with consumers, primary payers, lawyers, third party payers, risk management, insurance companies, contractors, remodelers and advocacy organizations on how to provide increased independence and safety for the consumers with disabilities through accessibility and technology.
